Jean Paul Brun is located in Charnay, a village in the southern Beaujolais just north of Lyons, in a beautiful area known as the "Region of Golden Stones" (terres dorées). Brun is the owner and winemaker at this 40-acre family estate and has attracted the attention of the French and American press for the wonderfully fruity and delicate wines he produces. Case in point: this Moulin-a-Vent. Moulin-a-Vent is generally considered one of the most ageworthy, and therefore complex, of the Beaujolais wines, a position borne out by Brun’s version (it is the only one of his wines given some oak aging). Made from grapes grown right under the windmill, this is a rich, velvety Beaujolais with lots of rich dark berry fruit.
