La Crema was born in a Petaluma warehouse in 1979 and quickly grew into a full-fledged winery making serious Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In the late 1980s the ownership ran into financial difficulties and sold to Jess Jackson’s Artisan & Estates cluster of upscale wineries. It remains a part of Jackson Family Wines today. Their Monterey Chardonnay is full of bright citrus, apricot, and honeydew aromas, while on the palate there are flavors of yellow plum, tropical fruit, crisp apple, and baking spice.
