Founded in the second half of the 1970s, La Kiuva is a cooperative winery with fifty grower members located in the heart of the Aosta Valley. The word kiuva is local dialect for a “sheaf of leaves” typically gathered in the fall to feed livestock. Here you will find some of the highest-lying vineyards in the world, planted on slopes so steep that they are not accessible to tractors. “Rouge de Vallée" is a five-grape red blend of mostly indigenous grapes, the blend here dominated by Picotendro, which is the local clone of Nebbiolo; dry, smooth, and harmonious on the palate, it has an intense red fruit bouqet with delicate spice notes, with a slightly bitter finish.
