This august enterprise had its beginnings in 1841 with the marriage of vineyard owner and wine merchant Amédé Labouré to Phillippine Roi. The house had its beginnings in Nuits-Saint-George and that remains the center of its activities today; over the years it built a reputation as one of the most respected houses in Burgundy, now part of Boisset, France’s third largest wine group and the largest producer in Burgundy. The entire operation is shepherded today by stellar oenologist and winemaker Céiénie Desarbres. Her Pommard is rich and powerful, with chewy tannins well supported by a velvety structure and complex, fruity, spicy and animal flavors, and very good length.
