The Palacio de Canedo, located in Bierzo, has been producing wine since 1730. In 1987 Jose Luis Prada purchased the estate to revitalize the vineyards and make the palace itself a functioning winery crafting wine as naturally as possible. The 45 acres of vineyard are planted to Godello for white wine and Mencia for red, with the vines being 35-70 years old. Their Godello is aged in tanks on fine lees for five months; floral and citrusy, it has bright flavors of pineapple, grapefruit, lemon zest, and thyme.
