Located in the northern section of the western Sonoma coast, Peay Vineyards produced its first vintage in 2001. Husband-and-wife team of Nick Peay and Vanessa Wong grow the grapes and make the wine, while Nick’s brother Andy runs the business. Before joining forces with Nick an Andy, Vanessa cut her teeth as winemaker at Peter Michael, and it was there that she learned to make superior Chardonnay. The Chardonnay grapes grow in the chilliest parts of the vineyard, giving the wine a distinctive signature: a range of chalky, citrus, apple and pear notes combined with vibrant energy and brisk acidity. The wine has medium weight across the mid-palate and also finishes with a salty, briny flavor on a clean, crisp, and long finish.
