Winemaker Màrio Sérgio Alves Nuno founded this winery in Bairrada, in northern Portugal, in 1990. His vineyard, at 60 acres large for this region, is planted to both red and white varietals, mostly Baga for the reds, Mario Gomes and Bical for the whites. Alves Nino alsoo produces several sparkling wines, all of which are made in the Brut Natur (no sugar added) style. Mario Sergio Alves Nuno now works alongside his son Frederico, making classic wines that use traditional winery practices. This Branco, a blend of the two white grapes, is vinified on the skins and bottled without fining or filtration. Weighty yet fresh on the palate, with generous acidity, it is elegant and complex, with notes of flint, ripe citrus, and spice.
