Roberto Anselmi has been credited, with good reason, with single-handedly reversing the waning reputation of the Veneto wine region. As a firm believer in the quality potential of the Garganega grape variety, he removed himself and his enterprises from the Soave region designation, forcing his compatriots to start choosing quality over quantity. Today Anselmi is considered one of Italy’s best white wine producers . . . and his wines still are bottled under the “Veneto” designation. His “San Vicenzo” has in fact become a benchmark wine for the Veneto. A 70/30 blend of Garganega, the traditional grape of Soave, with Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc, this is a vibrant and expressive white with a creamy texture and vibrant acidity.
