The Sanctum winery is located in the town of Loce, in northeastern Slovenia, set among the steep hills and valleys of the Lipoglav region. It is the project of father-and-son team of Vlado and Marko Podkubovsek, who take great pride in their local heritage and make all their wines in a traditional style. Leptir is an orange wine, made from a blend of Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris, with the juice from both Pinots left on the skins for 14-21 days; it has aromas of dried wildflowers and stone fruit and the palate is earthy yet bright, with a long savory finish.
