Champagne Girost-Moussy dates from the early years of the 20th Century, winning gold medals as early on as 1932. Leadership of the estate fell to Jean-Claude Girost, George Moussy’s son-in-law, in the early 1970s, and today his son Sebastien is at the helm. Starting in 2002, Sebastien moved to create his own personal cuvée, producing a non-vintage brut réserve and a rosé as well as this vintage Brut Millésime. A classic blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, with the oldest parcel of Pinot Meunier dating from 1939, the wine spends a full three years on the lees before being disgorged and released. Highly aromatic and broad on the palate, this is a sparkling wine of great depth and detail, with emphatic citrus notes and a great mineral backbone.
