The Macedonian winery of Tikves is the oldest and largest winery in southeastern Europe, dating from the year 1885. The M6 investment group acquired the winery in 2003 and have since made major investments in the winery, in new technology and in improving and modernizing the entire production process. The winery currently produces more than fifty different wines, a mix of international varietals and indigenous grapes. One of those native varieties is Vranek, considered to be THE local grape of Macedonia, and thought to have been planted here at least since the Middle Ages. This “Special Selection” version is full-bodied and extremely fruit-forward yet still providing great freshness and purity of fruit. It offers voluptuous levels of black raspberry, plum, violet, and spring flowers.
