This is a small estate located high in the hills between Panzano and Greve, in the heart of the Chianti Classico region. Grapes have been grown here for winemaking for at least 750 years, for much of that time the vines being tended by the monks of the nearby Badia a Passignano, but in 1975 the land was bought by Roccaldo Acuti, who made it into a potent force in the revival of the Chianti Classico appellation. In 2015 the estate became the property of three American investors, who also had the good fortune to acquire the services of stellar winemaker Serena Gusmani, who has been receiving worldwide acclaim for her wines there. A 65/35 blend of Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese, her Montefili Rosso is soft, round, and easy-to-drink, combining freshness of Sangiovese with the complexity of the Cab Franc.
