This storied estate dates back to at least the latter part of the 15th Century, when it as known in local records as “Cahago,” which translates as “an enclosed, cultivated field.” In the decades since it has seen ownership by the Benedictines, the Niccolini family of Florence, the Santa Maria Nuova Hospital in Florence, the Boddi family, and the Farkas family. Since 2016 it has been the property of ISA S.p.A. (Istituto Atesino di Sviluppo S.p.A.), a financial service holding company located in Trento, who have been able to provide substantial new investment, intent on strengthening the estate’s role as a producer of top quality Chianti Classico. This is the estate’s entry-level offering, an elegant Chianti with refreshing acidity and lots of fine-grained tannin.
