Whitehall Lane is a small (140 acres) family-owned operation in the Rutherford appellation of Napa Valley. It was founded in 1979 by two brothers, Art Finkelstein and Alan Steen, but taken over in 1999 by the Leonardini family; they started with one vineyard and now own seven vineyards that are the cornerstones on which the wines are made. Whitehall Lane is known for a Bordeaux-style, fruit-forward and crisp Sauvignon Blanc, as exemplified in this bottling. With fresh melon and grapefruit zest on the nose, it is medium-bodied yet crisp up front, with flavors of ripe pineapple, Bartlett pear, and fresh honeydew, fresh acidity and subtle toasty notes on a long finish.
