The Bertrand domaine is a small family operation, a vineyard of less than twenty acres located mostly in Fleurie with a bit in Morgon. Guy and Annick Berntrand took over and began slowly converting to organic viticulture, completing the process in 2013. At that point son Yann, mentored by Beaujolais icons Yvon Metras and Jean Foillard, took the reins and quickly gained a reputation as a rising star of the region, winning accolade for his vibrant and expressive wines. Following a small harvest in 2015 and a catastrophic frost in 2016, Yann decided to incorporate a micro-négociant approach into his family domaine. Yann’s goal for these wines is to collaborate with serious and passionate growers to support sustainable agriculture in the region and produce the same quality wines as those from the domaine. “Les Bambins” is sourced from a small grower in Saint Amour; it has aromas and flavors of wild berries, cherries, and rose petals that are followed by a lingering and refreshing finish.
