This land in the Savoie region of France has been in the Carrel family for six generations, first as a dairy and crop farm, then focusing on wine since the 1970s. Thomas Senger, a native of the Savoie region, joined as a partner in 2022, with Olivier Carrel continuing as winemaker. Olivier farms some 75 acres of vineyard, planted to a mix of cool-climate varieties, but with a strong emphasis on Altesse, a grape native to the region. “Petillant Altitude,” however, is a blend of Gamay and Chardonnay, made in the traditional I. e., like Champagne) method; it is creamy. With fine bubbles, with notes of apple and peach and a nutty complexity.
