Founded in the second half of the 1970s, La Kiuva is a cooperative winery with fifty grower members located in the heart of the Aosta Valley. The word kiuva is local dialect for a “sheaf of leaves,” typically gathered in the fall to feed livestock. Here you will find some of the highest-lying vineyards in the world, planted on slopes so steep that they are not accessible to tractors. “Rose de Vallée is a three-grape red blend of indigenous grapes, Picotendro, the local clone of Nebbiolo, along with Gros Vien and Neyret; with aromas of red berries, it is fresh and mineral, with a delicate bitter taste at the end.
