The “Le Meurget” wines are the proprietary project of New York importer/distributor Village Wine Imports; the initial offerings in the line include a red and a white Burgundy and a Chablis as well as this Beaujolais, a Moulin-a-Vent. Founded in 2001 by Michael Petrillo, VWI focuses on finding and offering authentic and affordable Old World wines by sourcing directly from producers. This Moulin-a-Vent is a blend of grapes from six different sites within the appellation and elaborated for VWI at the Chateau de Chenas co-op; it is a textbook example of well-made Beaujolais, with firm tannins and lots of bright red fruit flavors.
