Long one of the preeminent negociants of Burgundy, the house of Louis Latour has here ventured a bit far from home, into the Verdon region of Provence, where the splendid Gorge du Verdon is France's answer to the Grand Canyon; here their Domaine du Valmoissine produces a remarkably good little Pinot Noir. Made entirely in stainless steel, the wine is ruby colored with garnet tints and has a bouquet redolent of raspberry, blackberry and game. In the mouth it is round with supple tannins and subtle dried flower notes.
