Built in 1602, this manor house, named for its first owner, the Capucin monk Luillier, is one of the oldest houses in the village of Pouilly; It has been the property of the Bayon family since 1921, but it was only in 2002 that Chloe Bayon and her husband Guillaime Pichon, both fresh out of oenology school, decided to revive the family estate, a total of thirty acres not just in Pouilly-Fuisse but in Macon and Saint-Veran as well. “Clos de la Maison” is a monopole (a growing area under single ownership) of 31 ares (an are being equal to about 120 square yards) located in the slopes of the village of Pouilly, and the vineyards here are well known for producing wines of great finesse and bright minerality. Done 90% in stainless steel and only 10% in barrel, this is a fresh yet deeply flavored Chardonnay with aromas of ripe lemon, apricot and peach with sweet spice hints.
