This winery was founded in 1921 by Lorenzo Scavino and his son Paolo; today it is run by Enrico Scavino with his daughters Enrica and Elisa who represent the fourth generation here. They own some 58 acres of prime vineyard land throughout the Barolo region of Piedmont. Scavino wines are always characterized by purity, elegance, and freshness, and this 2021 Barolo Bussia is a perfect example. It is sourced from a vineyard acquired by the family only in 2018, a relatively young vineyard planted for the most part only in 2007; it is intense and fragrant, with a delicious palate of ripe cherries, licorice and vanilla, velvety tannins, and fresh acidity.
