Located on the western shores of Seneca Lake in New York’s Finger Lakes region, Red Ridge Estate Winery was founded in 2002 by winemaker Nancy Irelan, formerly Gallo’s Vice President of Viticulture and Enology, and her partner Michael Schnelle. Initially Nancy made her wine at neighboring wineries, but the winery itself was finally built in 2009, certified as a LEED Gold green facility in 2011 for its environmental and energy conscious design. The vineyards here are planted to the traditional Finger Lakes varietals of Riesling, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, along with some experimental varietals, including Dornfelder, Lagrein, and Teroldego. “Eastern Daylight” is a new line of wines from Red Ridge Estate. Made from fruit from the estate vineyards, this Off-Dry Riesling is a sustainably crafted wine with juicy stone fruit and a touch of sweetness balanced by bright acidity.
