Unquestionably one of the most historic estates in Piedmont, S&B Borgogno (the S&B stands for Serio and Battista) dates from 1897, when it was founded by Francesco Borgogno. The estate, which comprises some 35 acres, has been in the family since its beginning, with fourth-generation sisters Anna and Paola Borgogno now handing the reins over to their daughters Emanuela and Federica. Cannubi wines are especially known for their lifted, floral aromatics and a palate characterized by elegance and approachable structure. And while their requisite age-worthiness is undeniable, Cannubi wines, unlike many Baroli, bring uncommon pleasure in youth. This Nebbiolo is one of two very limited special release wines the Borgognos created in support of a newly created land conservancy to protect the fragile truffle forests of the Piedmont. 100% Nebbiolo from estate vineyards in the heart of the Cannubi (Barolo) vineyard, this is a wine of open-knit grace with flavors of red berries and mint and naturally refreshing acidity.
