This new gin out of Japan is produced by the Akashi Sake Brewery and named for the meridian that crosses Akashi City in the Hyogo prefecture. It is, stylistically, a traditional London dry gin but blended with Japanese botanicals. Made from 100% grain neutral spirits, it gets its unique Japanese twist from yuzu, sansho pepper, shiso leaf, sencha, and ume. The finishing touch is a splash of Junmai sake distillate to balance the flavors, resulting in a layered and harmonious gin.
