ASW, which stands for American Spirit Whiskey, has as its motto “Southern Pot-Still Pioneers”; the creation of Jim Chasteen, Charlie Thompson, and Justin Manglitz, it is based in Atlanta, Georgia, where it has three tasting rooms as well as a state-of-the-art distillery. With Justin as Master Distiller, they currently produce ten different brands, including this straight bourbon in their “Fiddler” line. This Wheated Bourbon, originally named “Unison,” illustrates the crew’s thinking when they created the “Fiddler” line: while most of their spirits are totally “in house” products, this line features spirits brought in house and then “fiddled with.” This version marries an imported high-wheat bourbon with their own high-malt bourbon that was distilled on the premises. With its notes of toffee, honey, green apple and nutmeg, it easily tok home a gold medal from the San Francisco Spirits Competition in 2000.
