Château de Pellehaut is a family property, located in the heart of the Armagnac appellation, on the heights of Montreal in the Gers region. It is today in the hands of Mathieu and Martin Beraut, who represent the seventh generation here. Their Armagnacs are known and recognized in France and abroad: all are single estates, and from grapes to brandy through aging, everything is sourced and produced on the estate. The Pellehaut estate covers some 3,500 acres, many of which are planted with grains or sunflowers, or used as grazing grounds for their herd of Blonde d’Aquitaine cows, whose compost helps to limit synthetic fertilizer use. Distilled primarily from from Folle Blanche with some Ugni Blanc, this Reserve is aged anywhere from nine to twenty years before blending (multiple vintages are blended in a stainless steel tank that is topped off and extracted from in a solera-style system) . With aromas of fresh plum and light caramel, it shows baking spices and fresh ginger on the palate with a smooth finish.
