The Molinari Company dates from 1945, when Angelo Molinari, a native of Rome and an expert perfumer and skilled blender, first began experimenting with creating what became his namesake liqueur, his version of sambuca. With the help of his sons, he shortly had his creation on the bars of all the restaurants and cafes along the Via Veneto. Having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2020, Molinari remains a family enterprise, and a Roman one, based in a major industrial complex in Civitavecchia. We know that the key ingredient is star anise, but the full recipe is and always has been a family secret. Spicy and herbal, strong and sweet, it is unmistakably Sambuca Molinari.
