Les Grands Chais de France (“chai” being the French word for an above-ground wine storeroom) was founded in 1979 by Joseph Helfrich, originally specializing in Cognac before diversifying into wine in 1981. Today this family-owned business based in Alsace is one of the largest wine production and sales companies in the world, owning 33 wineries in different wine-growing areas of France along with more than 10,000 acres of vines. Monsieur Paradis is the company’s project in the Languedoc. This is a firm-bodied Cab with an expressive and intense style, with aromas and flavors of spices, herbs, and dark fruit.
