Diplomatico rum is made in La Miel, Venezuela, in the middle of the stunning National Park Terepaima, by Destilerias Unidas; it was acquired in 2023 by Brown-Forman, the parent company of Jack Daniels, but the rum continues to be produced and aged in the original distillery at the foot of the Andes. “Planas” is the replacement for the Blanco Reserva, like its predecessor a white rum aged for six years but with the strength increased to 47%. A blend of pot still, column, and batch kettle rums, it is elegant, rich, and quite intense, smooth and crystal clear thanks to the complex charcoal filtration process carried out prior to bottling.
