Chad Allen’s roots are in the American Pacific Northwest, in Idaho, where the family business for four generations has been Three Rivers Ranch, a resort for fly fishing tourists. But when Chad married his wife Cristina, originally from Guadalajara, in 2007, he warmly embraced the culture of Jalisco and especially that of tequila. After much diligent research, aided in no small part by Cristina’s father Miguel, an agronomist, they connected with El Pandillo, a multi-generational tequila producer, and the result is Volans, owned and managed by Chad, Cristina, and Chad’s mother Lonnie Allen. Their tequila is distilled from the finest Blue Weber agaves, grown at nearly 7,000 feet; the Reposado is aged for a minimum of eight months in oak barrels to deliver smooth complex flavors of vanilla and wood.
