Beau-Sejour Becot is a historic property located on the limestone plateau of Saint-Emilion with a terroir of clay that has deep, limestone soils. Below the surface there is an endless array of limestone tunnels and quarries, that really explain what makes the wine of Beau-Sejour Becot so special. The 50 acres of vineyards are planted to 73% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. Since 2014 Juliette Becot and Julien Barthe have been in charge here. One critic called this 2020 vintage “A terrific performance for an estate on a continuing upward trajectory,“ and all give it extremely high marks for its mineral-driven fruit, taut and focused palate, seamless integration of oak, and clear and elegant expression of terrior.
