Mijenta Tequila was founded in 2020 by Michael Dolan, former CEO of Bacardi, sustainable designer Elisa Som, and noted mixologist and entrepreneur Juan Coronado. The fourth, and truly essential, member of this family is Maestra Tequilera Ana Maria Romero, who oversaw the creation of the brand and continues to nurture it. From the start the shared goal of the four has been to do everything in as environmentally responsible a way as possible while also delivering benefits to local communities. Mijenta's tequila is made with Blue Weber agave grown in the Mexican highlands of Jalisco, and the brand's packaging is made from recycled paper and agave waste. Aged up to six months in a blend of American white oak, French oak, and French acacia casks, their reposado has aromas and flavors of cooked agave and tropical fruit, with notes of bittersweet chocolate on the palate, and a long pleasant finish.
